Paint yourself into Summer!

Come and paint some beautiful summer blooms with me in my new Summer Wreath tutorial!

ree

In this one I’m going to show you how to build up different flower shapes just with your brush - so if you’re not a fan of drawing this one is for you!

This is a great tutorial to practice your brush control as we will be looking at how to move and alter the pressure we use with our brush to create lines and shapes.

I will show you a selection of summer flowers and you can choose to do all of them or just your favourites - you can even adapt some of the techniques to create different varieties of flowers or foliage. You can also alter the scale and colours to creat alternative versions.

Each flower will be started onto dry to achieve their specific shape. We will overlap colour onto dry to give the effect of multiple petals as seen in the Gerbera.

We will repeat small shapes to build up silhouettes as seen in the Allium ~ which uses lots of tiny stars.

You will also use water to create two tone petals as seen in the Rose ~ plus drop colours into each other to create subtle colour changes.

Once you have tried the techniques I will show you how you can transform these individual shapes into a wreath design thinking about shape, composition and colour.

If you fancy finding out a little more about this project and what you will learn ~ take a look at the short video below.

There’s so much video content to watch in this project ~ but each flower has its own self contained tutorial so just skip to the one you want to try first. I’ve also included a full tutorial of my final painting so you can see how to develop your design and literally watch it grow as you paint!

And if you enjoy painting this one ~ why not take a look at the Spring, Autumn and Winter Wreath tutorials!

Happy Painting!
