'Star't your watercolour adventure!

The Red starfish tutorial is a great little project if you are new to watercolour as it covers many of the basic techniques which form the basis of most paintings. This mini project is also great if you have half an hour to
spare as it's quite quick to create!
If you're a collector of all things nature, then this little project will definitely appeal as it could be the start of a larger painting which includes a number of other elements
To begin, you will look closely at the photo reference to discover the anatomy of the starfish. You will then apply a base colour across the starfish and once dry I will show you how to create form by using darker values dropped into wet.
You will add details onto dry as you build up the shape and textures using a fine brush.
To complete your starfish I will show you how to glaze transparent colour across the painting for a vibrant
finish.

This is a great stand-alone project but if you fancy creating a collection of seashore 'finds' then you can team this project with any of the shell or pebble tutorials to curate your own page.
Why not add some of your own 'finds' to the painting to create your own painted nature table. This could include feathers, flowers, insects, seed pods, twigs or leaves. The only limit is your imagination!
Over the summer you could even go on a nature walk and collect small items to paint as a visual record of your day out.
